Mr. Murray is a 50-year veteran of the coal industry. He received his Bachelor of Engineering in Mining degree from The Ohio State University and has completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
During his 31-year tenure at The North American Coal Corporation, Mr. Murray held various supervisory, management, engineering, marketing and operating positions, culminating his service as Executive Vice President and President and Chief Operations Officer from 1983 to 1987, and President and CEO in 1987. Mr. Murray left North American in late 1987 to create his own independent coal mining companies.
Mr. Murray, a registered Professional Engineer and private pilot, is a member of the Boards of Directors of the National Mining Association, American Coal Foundation, National Coal Council, Ohio Coal Association, and Pennsylvania Coal Association, and is Past President and a Trustee of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers, Inc., and the Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration, Inc., as well as Past President of The Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute, and other industry and civic organizations.
Mr. Moore received his Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University in Accounting and Finance, and received his Certified Public Accountant certification from the State of Ohio. He joined the Murray enterprise in 1993 following graduation and has held a number of financial and other senior management positions within the Company. In 2006, he completed the Executive MBA Program at The Ohio State University. Mr. Moore was named Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2007. He was elected to the Board of Directors for Murray Energy Corporation at that time.
Mr. McKown has been with the Murray organization since March 1999. He is responsible for the legal affairs of the corporation and it’s affiliates. Prior to joining the Murray group, he had been labor counsel at Peabody Coal Company and later served as Vice President of Human Resources at Arch Mineral Corporation. During private practice, he was a Trustee for the United Mine Workers’ Health and Retirement Funds. Mr. McKown received his Juris Doctor, and Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from the University of Akron.
Graduated from West Virginia University 2001, Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering, Graduated The Ohio State University 2006 Executive MBA; has held various positions within operations and senior management.
Mr. Murray holds a B.S. in Mining Engineering from West Virginia University and an M.B.A. from The Ohio State University. Mr. Murray is a certified First Class Gaseous Mine Foreman in the State of Ohio and has held various management positions within Murray Energy’s affiliated operations, up to and including General Manager and Superintendent of The Ohio Valley Coal Company. Mr. Murray also has extensive experience in marketing and sales, quality control, and transportation, where he worked as an Account Executive and Manager of Transportation and Quality Control for The American Coal Sales Company, Murray Energy’s marketing and sales arm. Mr. Murray, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, is currently directly responsible for Murray Energy’s business development, government affairs, and public relations endeavors, and he is also actively involved with the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration, Inc., National Mining Association, Ohio Coal Association, Illinois Coal Association, and other professional organizations.
Mr. Cornelius is a 30-year veteran of the coal industry. He attended the University of Kentucky and Kentucky Wesleyan University, majoring in Education Administration. Mr. Cornelius spent 18 years with Island Creek Coal Corporation, Lexington, Kentucky, where he held various senior management positions in sales and marketing, and held overall responsibility as Vice President for domestic sales. He also spent two years with Costain Coal, Inc., where he was Director of Sales for the company. Mr. Cornelius has been President of The American Coal Sales Company, an affiliate of Murray Energy Corporation, for the past 10 years.
Mr. Forrelli has 35 years experience in the coal industry, working for The North American Coal Corporation before joining Mr. Murray in 1988. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from West Virginia University, and he is a member of the Society of Mining Engineers. Mr. Forrelli has held various positions within Murray Energy’s enterprises, including Manager of Engineering, Manager of New Project Development, Mine Superintendent and both President and Vice President of The Ohio Valley Coal Company. He is currently Vice President of Murray Energy Corporation, directly responsible for overseeing the development and operations of The American Coal Company, as well as corporation engineering for existing operations.
